Penny Lecture: Subjective City - London that moves in footsteps of poetry

Performing & Visual Arts

Penny Lecture: Subjective City - a London that moves in the footsteps of its own poetry.

Join us on 27 July, as poet and painter Sophie Herxheimer shares her vibrant versions of London and Poetry as parallel convergent worlds.

Explore London through Sophie's drawings, collages, papercuts and poetry, and find out how her native city and its many voices have worked themselves onto her own map: and how bus stops, museums, homes, ghosts and acquaintances can inspire as many creative responses as Londoners can squeeze into a northern line carriage, or as trees can grow in Hyde Park.

This lecture will use poetry, image making and spontaneity to show you London as a city of the imagination, a whirling headquarters of language, subversion and ideas.
