Learn how to navigate the narrative when challenges arise, how to communicate and inspire confidence in clients and investors, and what communication mistakes to avoid at all costs.

Discussion Topics

โ€ข How a founder can be more preventative than reactive (from communications, legal and psychological aspect)?

โ€ข In the age of the Internet - age, image and reputation are ever more important. Can a founder control this narrative instead of the media and the audience putting a spin on it?

โ€ข How to lead the conversation when investor funding falls through after it has been promised? Discussion on the challenges founders face related to maintaining their image and navigating the situation when plans and outgoings are already put in the pipeline.

The Panel

Moderator - Emma Woollcott - Partner, Head of Reputation Protection and Crisis Management, Mishcon de Reya LLP. Specialises in Digital Technology and online publications, often advising in times of crisis and in the context of wider disputes.

Panelist - Dr Priya Virmani - Author, Founder/CEO, Political and economic analyst - Priya is the founder of childrenโ€™s charity Paint Our World that works to empower some of our most vulnerable children and is also the CEO of Ame Luxe - a travel company that encourages luxury solo women travel. Priya received the โ€˜She Inspires Awardโ€™ in the Houses of Parliament in London in 2019 and was named โ€˜An Asian Giant - a contemporary icon and an exceptional woman inspiring changeโ€™. Her book, The Smallest Stories to Extraordinary - a resounding manual of inspiration for trying times was launched at the House of Commons in June 2022 to a tremendous applause.

Panelist - John Atcheson - Co-Founder/CEO, Circular Way - John is Co-Founder/CEO of Circular Way, a social enterprise dedicated to ending consumer waste by making circularity the foundation of everything we buy. Prior to Circular Way and its predecessor company, Stuffstr, John helped to launch Getaround, the worldโ€™s leading peer-to-peer car sharing company, and served as Founder/CEO of several media-related startups, including MusicNet - the first interactive music service.

Panelist - Laura Westmacott - Founder & MD, Mercury Communications - Former TV news editor now international PR consultant specialising in luxury brands, property & design, hospitality, travel and retail. Laura has an in-depth knowledge of HNW audiences in both Europe and the UAE/GCC markets and offers expert advice and global outreach to key international markets.
