Cundall Launches Productivity Mapping; making the business case for wellbeing

Cundall has develop a new tool for assessing the impact of the workplace on occupant productivity, both in design and in operation.

For any organisation, staff salaries represent a large proportion of their costs. Low levels of productivity have a critical impact on the bottom line. The Harvard and Oxford Brookes universities latest research indicates that workspaces can have a 10-15% impact on productivity. So, a 1% improvement in productivity for many organisations can equate to savings of millions of pounds.

Building on Cundall’s industry leading work on design for health and wellbeing, including delivering Europe’s first WELL certified building, we have created a tool which can identify areas in a building that has reduced productivity as a result of the indoor environmental quality (IEQ). Armed with the results it enables us to assess the benefit of remedial measures.

We will offer up a host of practical ideas for optimising new and existing workspaces, including a number of real-life case studies where substantial savings have been achieved:

1.A 2.6% improvement for an office move equating to over Β£520,000;

2.Β£1.1M for optimising the proposed fit-out design of a high-end trading floor;

3.A 5.8% improvement of a in-use investment office floor and remedial works using live data readings; and

4.Multiple technical due diligence reviews to aid building selection to optimise return-on-investments.
