Race in Britain Report Launch

Community & Culture

Cumberland Lodge, the charity that empowers people, through dialogue and debate, to tackle the causes and effects of social division, is preparing to launch its 2019 report on Race in Britain: Inequality, Identity & Belonging. This marks the culmination of a 12-month project run in partnership with the Runnymede Trust.

This Cumberland Lodge Report explores the complex ways in which inequality, identity and belonging intersect with race in Britain today. It draws on the wisdom and experience of an interdisciplinary representation of academics, policymakers, business leaders, NGOs, community practitioners and activists, and young people, from across the UK.

The aim of this evening is to share the report widely amongst policymakers, academics, practitioners, the media and the public to help promote positive action.

The author of our report is Cumberland Lodge freelance research associate Dr Farhan Samanani, from the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religion and Ethnic Diversity, Goettingen, Germany.

We will be welcoming an expert panel of speakers who will share their thoughts on the report and take part in a Q&A session. This will be followed by a drinks reception for all guests. Please arrive for a 6 pm start. The event will end by 8 pm.Β The dress code is smart.

Our panellists include:

  • Sunder Katwala - Director of British Future

  • Kiri Kankhwende - Freelance Journalist and Commentator

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Emily Gow, Programme Officer, on [email protected].Β
