Rapid Response: Panel on the Fiat, Ireland & Luxembourg Judgment

Other

A rapid response panel discussion regarding the recent European Court of Justice judgement in Fiat, Ireland and Luxembourg v Commission

On 8 November 2022, the European Court of Justice handed down its long-awaited judgment in the cases of C 885/19 P and C 898/19 P Fiat, Ireland and Luxembourg v Commission. This was the first time that the Court had the opportunity to express its view on the Commission’s arguments about the capacity of the State aid rules to challenge tax ruling practices. The case has significant ramifications for other cases, like Apple and Amazon, which are on their way to the Court and more generally on the scope of the EU State aid rules.

Join us for our “Rapid Response” panel discussion of the case and why the judgment is important on Thursday 8 December from 6.30pm to 7.45pm (drinks reception to follow). The event will be chaired by Professor Christopher Vajda KC (Visiting Professor at King’s College London and former judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union). Confirmed speakers: Professor Andrea Biondi (King’s College London), Paul Davison (Partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer), Professor Ruth Mason (University of Virginia) and Dr Stephen Daly (King’s College London). Full panel TBC. For those who cannot make it in person, hybrid attendance will be facilitated.
