RAPTURE, Curated By Ryan Lanji: Private View

Performing & Visual Arts

Ryan Lanji's Rapture celebrates fearless, bold art, expanding on Perspectives of Courage to spark joyful chaos and cultural change.

Join us to celebrate the opening night of Rapture

Thursday 3rd April, 6.00pm - Late

Cultural curator Ryan Lanji revisits his 2020 exhibition Perspectives of Courage, which originally brought together eight artists whose work harmonized creativity and courage—whether through their artistic practice, personal backgrounds, or identities. The exhibition was set to open on March 11, 2020, a date that coincidentally marked the UK’s first international lockdown. The world stood still, and the show—an ode to bravery—remained unseen.

Expanding on themes of courage and expression, Rapture pushes them into a space of uninhibited celebration. It is a natural evolution from Lanji’s work in championing South Asian creativity—most notably through HUNGAMA, his groundbreaking queer Bollywood club night that has grown into a global movement of culture, art, and identity. Hungama(हंगामा) translates to chaos, celebration, and joyful commotion, an ethos that pulses through the exhibition’s energy.

More than just an exhibition, Rapture presents a collection of covetable, collectable limited run printst from not only groundbreaking artists of color but also beacons of the artistic community—visionaries whose bold, fearless creativity is a reminder that art, at its most powerful, is a force of beautifully disruptive energy. These works are testaments to the idea that artistic expression is not just a form of resistance or reflection, but a catalyst for joyful upheaval—a space where positive chaos sparks cultural transformation.
