Courtauld Connects: Gallery Experience Focus Group (Non Visitors)

Community & Culture

The Courtauld Gallery, part of The Courtauld Institute of Art, is currently undertaking an ambitious five year transformational project at its home at Somerset House that will make The Courtauld’s world-class artworks, research and teaching accessible to more people. The project will transform the Gallery, teaching, learning and social spaces, including the creation of new dynamic spaces for temporary exhibitions. It will also make it possible to present a greater variety of works from The Courtauld Collection, which stretches from the early Renaissance into the 20th century.

Improving the in-Gallery experience is a key aspect of the redevelopment, and we would like to speak to people who typically visit other art gallery attractions but who have never visited the Courtauld Gallery before in a focus group session to understand your views about the proposed layouts, the artworks and experience of the gallery from mocked up imagery and 3D visualisations. Attendees are not required to have any pre-existing knowledge of the Courtauld or the Courtauld Connects proposals – just a willingness to engage in open discussion. We are particularly looking to understand and reflect the views of those who have not visited the Courtauld but visit other attractions in family groups with children and have reserved 4 spaces of the focus group for people who match this description. If this is you, please select the 'family' ticket type.

As well as having the opportunity to help shape this exciting project and the future of the Courtauld, focus group attendees will be given a £25 voucher in return for your time and refreshments will be supplied.

The focus groups will be held on Wednesday the 28th of August from 6.30pm to 7.45pm and Thursday the 29th of August from 10.00pm to 11.15pm at The Courtauld at Somerset House. You need only attend one session.

If you are interested in attending please register for a free ticket for the session. We have a limited number of spaces which will be allocated on a first come first served basis with a waitlist should places later become available. As such we ask that you cancel your booking if you are no longer able to make it.

On the day, please report to The Courtauld Institute of Art Reception at The Strand Entrance of Somerset House (coming from Strand, walk under the main arch, turn left, and the Courtauld reception is located on your left hand side, just before another arch leading to King’s College). A member of our team will accompany you to the focus group location.

You do not need to bring anything with you - just a willingness to participate in a discussion about the future of the galleries.

If you have any queries or would like any further information please contact Rae Morton at Jura Consultants at [email protected] or on 0131 440 6750.

We look forward to hearing your views!
