Science in Practice: Chemistry event

Family & Education

A evening for science teachers around London to come together, experiment and learn how to teach science topics the best they can!

Science is a tricky subject and often science teachers are teaching topics they are not specialist in. This new network is designed to support any science teacher who wants to improve their subject knowledge. This event is focusing on C4: Extraction of metals, especially electrolysis'

Each event we ask a subject specialist to teach the teachers on certain topics coming up in the curriculum. The specialist teacher will run us through activities, experiments to use and how to do them. They will answer and support with any misconception questions, support with any resources you may need including lesson plans and activities to take with you.

It's a safe space for teachers to ask the questions they need answers to before they teach the lessons themselves. A relaxed atmosphere for you to meet your science peers, learn, experiment and connect. We welcome any teacher at any stage, come if you have something to give or you need to top up your knowledge.

This event is focused on Chemistry!

It is an opportunity to:

  • Network with other Science teachers across a variety of specialisms
  • Sharing of useful resources, common misconceptions and techniques for making content sticky
  • Hands on practical experience and discussion of effective delivery
  • Pizza, refreshments and solid nerd chat
