Sophie Dennett lives and works in Cornwall, a picturesque county of England which, despite its draw as a holiday destination of choice, ranks lowly in terms of deprivation. A large number of children live in poverty. The post-industrial decline and high unemployment make it a harsh environment to subsist in. Dennett creates images which pulse with an echo of the reality of everyday life she sees around her, portraying a raw beauty and a reflection on the brutality of the world. โฃโฃ
The collaboration between Sophie Dennett and Not Actual Size, a digital content agency founded in 2007, to raise funds for the international Childrenโs Charity Railway Children, is a judicious partnering. Alongside a collection of Dennettโs work, not previously seen in London, Not Actual Size will launch a specially created edition of etchings, proofed and printed by Simon Marsh, from the sale of which all money raised will be donated to Railway Children. The exhibition represents the continued significant support Not Actual Size provide for the charity through a corporate partnership which has included assisting creative campaigns and sponsored bike expeditions across Africa.โฃ
