The Race Beat is a network for people of colour, open to anyone working in, or interested in, journalism.
For this meeting, kindly hosted by gal-dem, we will be in full organising mode for next year, including planning a βmeet the editorsβ event in early 2020. Come with ideas and enthusiasm for anything you would like to happen with The Race Beat, particularly if you want to be more involved in practical organising.
Sign up to let us know youβre coming. Weβll be bringing some food and drinks so it would be useful to have an idea of numbers. Some of us might go for a drink afterwards.
We are independent of any media organisation and open to all people of colour β experienced news reporters, citizen journalists, students, writers, freelancers, staff writers, broadcasters, media academics, aspiring columnists and critics. You donβt need to be a professional journalist to join us. Come down and get involved!
What would you want from a βmeet the editorsβ event?
Whether youβre looking for contacts, help on pitching or an editor looking for new content, we want to hear from you. Please fill in our survey by Wednesday 18 December so we can help make the event as useful as possible. The first 12 people to fill in the survey will get a free book donated by the Orwell Foundation, Verso or Pluto Press.
This is a space for people of colour only. We welcome queer and trans people of colour and all other identities.
