What works to support women's careers?

Government & Politics

Despite billions of dollars spent globally on diversity and inclusion initiatives, and countless hours of staff time dedicated to administering them, there is limited evidence that they actually work – and some may actively be causing harm.

Part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences, this event will look at why guesswork or good intentions simply aren’t enough to tackle the gender divide at work, and how we can take a scientific approach to women’s career progression.

The event will draw on forthcoming research by the Global Institute for Women's Leadership for the Government Equalities Office.

Panel:

18:30: Guest arrival
19:00: Event starts
20:30: Drinks reception

This is a free event, which means we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.

Please note we may video and take photos at the event for our own internal and external marketing purposes – if you would prefer not to be featured, please let us know in advance or make yourself known to a member of the events team on the night.
