What works to support women's careers?

Government & Politics

Despite billions of dollars spent globally on diversity and inclusion initiatives, and countless hours of staff time dedicated to administering them, there is limited evidence that they actually work โ€“ and some may actively be causing harm.

Part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences, this event will look at why guesswork or good intentions simply arenโ€™t enough to tackle the gender divide at work, and how we can take a scientific approach to womenโ€™s career progression.

The event will draw on forthcoming research by the Global Institute for Women's Leadership for the Government Equalities Office.

Panel:

18:30: Guest arrival
19:00: Event starts
20:30: Drinks reception

This is a free event, which means we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.

Please note we may video and take photos at the event for our own internal and external marketing purposes โ€“ if you would prefer not to be featured, please let us know in advance or make yourself known to a member of the events team on the night.
