Women in Tech Meetup at Quadrature London: Developing Your Career in Tech

Science & Technology

Join us at Quadrature’s beautiful office on the 33rd floor of The Cheesegrater Building for an evening of food, drinks and inspiring women!

What to Expect

You’ll be hearing from a series of interesting speakers who will discuss topics such as:

  • Progressing to a senior role without turning into a carbon copy of everyone else
  • Tackling technical interviews
  • Overcoming perfectionism
  • Balancing learning, study and work

You’ll also have the opportunity to hear about Quadrature and the kind of work we do, as well as meet other women in the field.

Some of our Speakers

Catherine Newman started her career in bioinformatics at Pfizer, spent time enjoying the dotcom bubble, and then moved into software consultancy. She has worked in energy trading for over 18 years, with 10 of those spent at GM&T across a number of different roles (most recently as Director of Global IT and Delivery).

Holly Boothroyd is a software engineer at Microsoft, where she currently works on Cortana for Windows, having previously been involved in Paint 3D and Xbox. Beyond her development work, she’s part of Microsoft’s Connecting Women in Technology Core Team, as well as working with the company’s DigiGirlz programme to help inspire and empower young women interested in tech.

Alex Mikhailova has been a Quant Developer at Quadrature for 3 years, having previously worked as a software engineer at Apple and completed internships at a range of tech companies throughout her studies, including Yandex and Google. She also began her PhD in Statistics at Imperial College London’s Department of Mathematics last autumn, and will complete this over the coming years alongside her work at Quadrature.

On the Night

You’ll enjoy amazing views of the London skyline from the 33rd floor, complimentary food and drinks throughout the evening and the chance to meet other interesting people in your field!

Please note, this event is hosted primarily for those identifying as women/non-binary who work in technical roles, however others may also attend.

Agenda

18:30 - Doors open; time for food, drinks and networking

19:00 - Talks kick off; more time for food and drinks

20:30 - Talks finish; time for Q&A and networking

Accessing the Building

Please bring a form of ID with you, and tell the security team at the base of the escalators that you’re here for the event with Quadrature. You’ll then head up to reception, and a member of the Quadrature team will come down to check off your name and bring you up to the 33rd floor. Please note that your bag will be searched as you enter the building as part of the building’s security measures. If you have any accessibility issues, please let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate these. To get here, the most convenient tube stations are Bank and Liverpool Street.

Points to Note

We’ll be taking photos of the event for internal use, but please let us know if you’d prefer not to feature in these.

If you have any allergies or dietary requirements we should know about, or if there’s anything you’d like to ask beforehand, please email [email protected].
